The Confucius Institute in Indianapolis was established in 2007 through an agreement between IUPUI and The Office of Chinese Language International in partnership with Sun Yat-sen University in China. The Confucius Institute in Indianapolis, an apolitical, non-profit organization, promotes the teaching of Chinese language and culture in central Indiana and facilitates mutual understanding between the peoples of China and the United States.
