dc.description.abstractDuring the 2016 Point-in-Time Count, 1,619 individuals were identified as experiencing homelessness in Marion County, a 2.8 percent decrease from 2015. Changes in program classification and population served likely contributed to the 16.1 percent decrease witnessed in persons residing in transitional housing. Several agencies altered their programs to open up beds for all persons, not just reserved for persons experiencing experiencing homelessness. In addition to detailing 2016 results, the report examines the following overall trends from the 10-year period: Total numbers of people experiencing homelessness have decreased. The number of emergency shelters has increased. The number of transitional housing has decreased. The number of unsheletered people has remained relatively constant. Veterans have increased in numbers and as a percent of the total. Number of families experiencing homelessness has remained relatively stable since 2011.en_US
