Public Law (PL) 106-561 and the Paul Coverdell National Forensic Sciences Improvement Act of 2000 created the Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grant Program (Coverdell grant program) to assist state and local governments in improving their forensic and medical examiner services. This report examines the history of Coverdell grants awarded to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) and the subsequent award of these funds by ICJI to the Indiana State Police (ISP) and Marion County Forensics Services Agency (MCFSA)—the only two Indiana agencies receiving Coverdell awards.en_US
