dc.description.abstract | In 1994 Mitch Roob was appointed President of Marion County Health and Hospital Corporation in the administration of Mayor Stephen Goldsmith. HHC operates, through its two divisions, the Marion County Health Department and the health care system built around Wishard (formerly City) Hospital: Wishard Health Services. City Hospital and its successors are important sites for physician training and community service for the IU School of Medicine. Beginning in the late 1960s the medical school and its faculty expanded their service to Wishard culminating in a contract to direct medical services at the hospital, a change that brought the clinical roles of IU doctors at Wishard in line with the departmental chairs of the medical school. | en_US |
