    James O. Richey Oral History Interview, March 31, 1976
    (2018-03-24) Bonsett, Charles A.
    James Oscar Ritchey was born in Carroll County in Indiana in 1891. He graduated from the top of his class at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1918 and became the first to receive the Marcus Ravdin Medal, what was to be known as the school’s highest award for scholarly achievements. The following year, he became a Professor, and later became the chairman of the Department, at the School of Medicine. Two years after his passing in 1981, the J. O. Ritchey Society was established as a way to recognize those who help the School of Medicine through their monetary gifts their time committed to the Department.
